Concrete driveways built to last

A premium driveway or patio requires an engineered foundation to prevent sinking, shifting, and cracking over time.
At Modscape, we build a heavily compacted, load-bearing gravel foundation, use high-strength reinforced concrete designed to handle heavy vehicle loads, and install built-in drainage from day one to completely prevent water pooling.
Modscape manages your entire project under a single contract, from the initial site dig-out to the final clean.

Council-approved road crossings and paperwork

Connecting a new driveway to the public road requires working within the council-owned road corridor. Because this involves specialised compliance, many standard contractors cannot touch it.
Modscape handles the entire project seamlessly from your property boundary right through to the street. Commercial and residential driveway installations are planned around vehicle flow, loading, compliance and site safety.
As an approved council contractor with SiteWise accreditation, we take care of all council consent applications, organise the required traffic management, and construct the vehicle crossing to match your driveway perfectly.

Base preparation for hardscape concrete

Most driveway failures start below the surface.  We apply strict engineering standards to ensure your new surfaces stay perfectly level.
On softer or unstable ground, we use industrial geotextile reinforcing membranes to completely eliminate ground settling. Furthermore, if you are replacing an old asphalt driveway, we always check your existing foundation first. If it is still structurally sound, we will reuse it—instantly saving you thousands of dollars in unnecessary excavation and disposal costs.

All hardscape concrete is reinforced with steel. Modscape typically pours concrete at a higher strength grade than the minimum requirement, improving performance under repeated vehicle loading.

More information on hardscape concrete is available on our
hardscaping page.

Premium finishes, decorative paving and permeable options

We offer a versatile range of durable surface materials and premium styles tailored to your property’s architectural look and budget.
Our core surfacing options include:
  • Bespoke Concrete Finishes: Standard smooth concrete, vibrant coloured tints, modern textured patterns, and premium exposed aggregate.
  • Precision Brick & Block Paving: Custom-laid pavers installed in tailored borders, bands, and patterns—seamlessly integrated with surrounding paths or patios.
  • Permeable Eco-Concrete: Eco-friendly, porous concrete systems that allow heavy rainwater to drain directly through the surface into the earth, reducing stormwater pressure.
  • Protective Surface Sealing: High-performance coatings that lock out oil stains, shield from weather damage, and make cleaning effortless.

Both suit residential properties depending on layout, repair preferences and the look you want. Ground stability, drainage, load and edging requirements are checked before recommending an approach. See the residential landscape design page for integrated upgrades.

A site visit and inspection is needed before pricing. Cost depends on thickness, subgrade strength, access, disposal and drainage. Quotes are itemised for clarity. For further questions or to discuss your project, see the Contact page.

In some circumstances, yes. A permeable concrete driveway can help reduce stormwater runoff and pooling where drainage is a concern. Soil type, base design and slope are checked before specifying a permeable system. Maintenance and cleaning are explained at handover.

Hardscape building starts with excavation, subgrade inspection, basecourse installation and confirming levels and falls. Edge restraint, load requirements and joint placement are set out before concrete is poured or pavers are laid.

With proper ground preparation, correct thickness and reinforcing, a hardscape concrete driveway can last for decades. Service life depends on drainage, joint detailing and maintenance. Warranty terms cover workmanship as stated in the contract. For planting alongside driveway work, see the landscape planting design page.
